Alternate applications for the opening of Wansu kata.

The attaker lunges in with a two hand grab or choke.  Defender uses magetori barai to sweep away the attack and open up the attacker.

Defender moves inside on the attacker and counters with morote mawashi ate to the temples.

Defender follows up with a double forearm thrust to the sides of the attacker's neck.

Then the defender pulls the attacker in hard striking the back of the neck with both thumbs or haito.

Finally, the defender grabs the attacker by the hair (or ear) and pulls their head down (as in the gedan barai motion from the kata) and hits with kake tsuki to the best available target such as behind the ear, side of neck, etc.
